Polaris Group’s Input and Resources Continue to Provide Value for RehabCare Clients
As a recognized industry specialist providing customized clinical, operational and financial solutions with expert implementation to post-acute healthcare providers, Polaris Group provides its clients with strategies to assist in achieving compliance and accurate reimbursement while managing costs, improving efficiencies and delivering high-quality care. And RehabCare has been working with Polaris Group for approximately 20 years, in order to enhance the services it, in turn, provides to its own clients.
According to Polaris Group Chief Operating Officer Chuck Cave, this relationship leads to a bundling of expertise that benefits RehabCare’s clients and, ultimately, the patients who receive care in a RehabCare-contracted facility.
“Polaris Group focuses on understanding client goals and objectives,” said Cave. “We then customize the implementation tools and management processes in alignment with the priorities identified by client-specific needs. Our ultimate goal is to be a strong partner in our client’s success by delivering the highest quality of service, anticipating needed change and demonstrating quantifiable value.”

Polaris Group’s Key Indicator Trend (KIT) report is one of the most valuable resources offered. The KIT report serves as a source for identifying trends in nursing and rehabilitation communities, providing information about: length-of-stay (LOS), Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) measurements, Resource Utilization Groups (RUG) classifications and information about readmissions to acute care hospitals, and provides a tool for case management. The progressive KIT report provides facilities with a tool for in-depth analysis, tracking and trending data that can assist with monitoring the community’s Medicare utilization. Additionally, the KIT report includes the Community Dashboard Report, which helps to quickly identify variables that can assist a facility in making a positive impact on the community’s Medicare program. We believe this is the largest database of its kind outside of what is available to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and the KIT Report can help facilities determine if they would benefit from contracting with a company like RehabCare.
“The KIT Report reflects the changing times and is a tool that assists with monitoring a community’s key indicators and trends related to their Medicare utilization,” said Cave. “In an ever-changing Medicare climate and with the implementation of Accountable Care Organizations, the report also tracks readmissions within 30 days, information that is becoming more and more important.”
Polaris Group consultants roll up their sleeves and work alongside the RehabCare leadership team, corporate finance department, clinical staff and internal and external consultants in order to put in place best practices and to benchmark results.
“Twenty-five years ago, Polaris Group was an upstart company designed to help skilled nursing facilities with clinical, operational and financial consulting needs,” said Cave. “Over the last 25 years we’ve grown into one of the industry’s largest consulting firms, and we give RehabCare and their clients personalized guidance in realizing accurate reimbursement and Medicare compliance.”
